FEBRUARY WEEK 1

Thought for the Week

The Japanese have a wonderful process called Kaizen, which simply means “small constant improvement”. In fact Kaizen was not a Japanese concept, it was a USA military concept from the 50’s which the Japanese learned and improved and made their own. At Raizcorp we follow this principal of Kaizen. For those of you who have been in Raizcorp for some time you will have noticed the constant changes. At some point there was no training, then there was badly organised training, then well organised training, then training that was in the process of being accredited towards a degree or diploma. As we grow we dedicate new resources to the growth. In the case of the Learning function, we dedicated a specialist to this in the form of Trevor. As this area has improved it now needs more resource. This is in the form of Julie Dakers who has joined Raizcorp to work in the Learning department. (When you have two people doing sort of the same thing you can call it a department J). Please Welcome her with a big W.

We have also been busy working on the infrastructure. Our meeting rooms were way too claustrophobic. We have now added decent windows to open them up a bit. The Gym is on its way. You’ve heard of load shedding, now we are going to have a more positive weight, and stress shedding.

I am writing this note to you from the airport lounge in Cape Town. I have spent the day here and went to see another incubator. It is amazing to see the huge difference between a well funded Government operation and a self funded entrepreneurial operation. They have so much to learn. Shows you what a dedicated team of smart people can do by doing just a little bit every day.

Wishing you all a Kaizen state of mind for the next week.
