In a recent discussion, with a highly successful businessman, I asked him what he thought was the one personal characteristic that made him successful. “Attention to detail” was his response. It is a characteristic that encompasses so many nuances. Attention to detail means that you tend toward perfectionism; it means that you have pride in what you do; it means that you will go the extra mile and it means that there is integrity in what you do.
“Really?” I responded listening intently
“I noticed Raizcorp is a place that has the same ethos as me,” he continued.
“How so?” I asked with considerable interest.
“Your toilets. Your toilets show me that your entrepreneurial passion is everywhere. Once I visited your toilets, I knew that this place had integrity.”
When you visit a hotel, or a restaurant, it is normally the attention to detail that leaves you with the lasting impression. How can you increase your attention to detail?
- Clean your immediate surrounds
- Create systems
- Reduce familiarity by changing your routines
- Expect more from yourself
